Bio: Steve Chandra Savale has had a long and illustrious career in music as guitarist, composer, producer and performer in Asian Dub Foundation for three decades. Amongst many achievements the band has had two top 20 UK albums , a Mercury prize nomination, a rare 10/10 score in a NME review and a recent No.1 in the UK Official Sales Chart in collaboration with renowned comedian Stewart Lee.

ADF’s music has been used across many formats in TV, film and gaming. ADF provided the soundtrack for the Channel 4 film “The Bradford Riots”(2006) and the Channel 4 documentary “Empire State Of Mind” (2021), and have had tracks featured in games such as Need for Speed Underground , FIFA, Burnout Revenge as well as the trailer for Ubisoft’s Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Steve was the instigator of the band’s 2001 turn towards the then very new format of live re-scores to already existing films. The first of these was a live performance to the French Urban classic “La Haine” at London’s Barbican which met with widespread acclaim. in 2002 the band were asked to repeat the project for that year’s Meltdown festival at the South Bank as curated by David Bowie. The band continues to perform the piece around the world to this day. Other films re-scored by the band include “The Battle of Algiers” and George Lucas’ first film “THX 1138” the latter of which had the personal blessing of Lucas himself and his legendary sound designer Walter Murch.
